2013 Syrah From a Single Vineyard in Craneford in the Eden Valley
Eden Valley is the perfect playground for us to further explore our winemaking philosophy, which we describe as a ‘sensibility for tradition with a passion for innovation’. At a higher elevation than the Barossa Valley below, one can make even more diverse and seductive expressions of Syrah that speak of their unique sites. ‘Does your dog bite?’
Single Vineyard Location: Craneford, Eden Valley
Soil: Clay over sandstone and quartz
Elevation: 450m above sea level
A complex ethereal expression of Eden Valley Syrah, its graphite tannins are supported by dark cherry, savoury and spice flavours. This wine has been matured in 50% new French oak puncheons for 17 months sur lie to further enhance its flavours. A wine for ‘grown-ups’, so undress it now if you’re feeling frisky, or in 8-10 years time if you’re looking for an olfactory orgy.

Does Your Dog Bite
Single Vineyard Craneford Eden Valley Syrah 2013
Crushed and destemmed, open-fermented with cultured yeast, 10 days on skins, fermentation finished and matured for 18 months in French puncheons (45% new). Deep, dense colour well and truly OTT. If everything in the wine was cut back by (say) 15%, it could be something special. The label is another (polarising) matter.
